The members of this genus are usually small with black coloured spores and grows on dung or grasslands. They belong to Bolbitiaceae family. The gills of these fungi are dark grey and have a speckled appearance. None of the species of this genus are used for human consumption. They are found throughout the world in most tropical and subtropical areas. These mushrooms are usually referred to as LBM’s (Little Brown Mushrooms) and require to be examined under the microscope to reach accurate identification.
I observed this species during the month of November at Aalam Villu.
