This is an endemic species of Scorpion belonging to the Buthidae family, which consists of 13 local species. According to an island wide scorpiological expedition conducted in 2015 by a team of experts this species is found in the dry and the intermediate zone of the country.
In Wilpattu I have seen this species at Hunuwilagama. I’m thankful to Professor Kithsiri Ranawana and Mr. Sanjeewa Jayaratne of the University of Peradeniya for their kind support extended to me in identifying this species.
