This is an uncommon species, which is found in the lowlands of the country. It is also found in South-east Asia from India to Fiji including the Philippines and is also native to the tropical coast of Queensland in Australia.
The conservation status of this species is regarded as Vulnerable (National Red List 2012).
This is a species protected under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance as amended by Act No. 22 of 2009.
The female is known to lay its eggs on Wel Penela Cardiospermum halicacabum
Which, is a common vine found through out the island and also grown in home gardens.
My first ever sighting of this species was in the Wilpattu national park between Wilachchiya and Kallaru.
