Other than in Sri Lanka this species is found in India, to Malaysia in Australia and China. It is a tiny plant with very small flowers that is found along with grass.
The conservation status of this species is regarded as Least Concerned.

I have seen this species only in the dry lowlands of the country. In traditional medicine the roots of this species are used to induce sleep in children.
In Wilpattu I observed the flowers of this species in bloom after the rains in December at Illanda Mottai.
