This widespread mushroom belongs to the Agaricaceae family. The Green Spored Parasol is quite common in North America and throughout the temperate areas of the world. It is poisonous and causes gastrointestinal disorders within one to 2 hours of consuming such as sever colic, vomiting and diarrhea.

This is said to be the most frequently consumed poisonous mushroom in America due to its similarity with a popular edible species, Shaggy Parasol Chlorophyllum rhacodes.
This is a very common species in Wilpattu after the heavy rains during the months of October to January. I have observed them at many locations including Kombansanchaipooval, Panikkar Villu, Kuruttupandi Villu and at Nelum Wila.
