The mushrooms of this genus belong to the Polyporaceae family. Some of the species of this genus are edible. Twenty-five species have been recognized so far and they are found throughout the world. The fruit body of Honeycomb mushrooms are fleshy, and the underside of the cap has a honeycomb shaped structure with radially arranged pores.
In Wilpattu I have seen this species during the month of November between Kokkare villu and Nelum Wila.
