This is common breeding resident found throughout the country from the coasts to the highest hills. It is found in South Asia to the Philippines. Six subspecies have been recognized.
The conservation status of this species is regarded as Least Concerned (National Red List 2012).
Black-capped Bulbul is a species protected under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance as amended by Act No. 22 of 2009.
This is a very common species that is found throughout the country wherever there are open fields, grasslands, lakeshores etc.
It is a very common species in Wilpattu and can be seen at most open localities.
