This is a rare species that is found only in the dry lowlands of the country. Other than Sri Lanka this species is found in India and Thailand. Even in these countries it considered a very rare insect.
The conservation status of this species is regarded as Near Threatened (National Red List 2012).
Light-tipped Demon is a species protected under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance as amended by Act No. 22 of 2009.
In Wilpattu I observed and photographed this dragonfly at Kali Villu.
