The Malabar Sprite is a medium sized damselfly which belongs to the Coenagrionidae family commonly referred to as “Bluets” and is found from the lowlands to the mid hills. This species if also found in India and Myanmar.
The conservation status of this species is regarded as “Least Concerned” (National Red List 2012).
This is a species protected under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance as amended by Act No. 22 of 2009.
This is a common species in Wilpattu and is found close to most water bodies. I captured the image depicted her at Mila Wewa.
