This is a small woody tree, which is native to Sri Lanka and India. It is found in the low country dry zone forests of the country up to an altitude f about 600 meters.
The conservation status of this species is regarded as Least Concerned. (National List 2012).
I have observed this species through out the low country dry zone National Parks such as Yala, Wasgomuwa, Minneriya and Ritigala strict Nature Reserve.
In Wilpattu this species will bloom during April and a sweet fragrance emanates from the pretty flowers. I have observed this species at the park entrance, Maradanmaduwa, Nelum Wila and Tala Wila.
