This brightly coloured mushroom is a saprophytic species which belong to the Agaricaceae family. These mushrooms grow in organic rich soil and decomposed tree stumps. It’s brightly coloured cap which is hemispherical as it emerges and expands to a flat surface at maturity. The surface contains triangular scales and has a felt like texture.
In Wilpattu I have observed this species on Kokkare Villu upper road during the month of June.
