This is an indigenous plant, which is also found in South East Asia, South Africa and Madagascar.
The conservation status of this species is regarded as Least Concerned. (National List 2012).
It is found under the shade of trees in the dry and intermediate lowland forests of the country. It is used is Ayurveda medicine to treat Scabies, Ringworm and Skin Deceases.
I have observed the flowers at many localities at Wilpattu. I photographed these flowers at Kumbuk Wila during April and June.
