This is a species, which is common among grass and open places in tropical Africa, Madagascar, India, Sri Lank, China, tropical Australia and America.
The conservation status of this species is regarded as Least Concerned. (National List 2012).
A species of butterfly which is commonly seen in Wilpattu the Tawny Coaster lays its eggs on the leaves of this plant and their caterpillars feed on the leaves on their way to becoming adult butterflies.
I have seen this species in most dry zone open forested areas and open fields.
This is a common species found in most open places throughout Wilpattu.
