The beheviour of the Tamil Bushbrown is very similar to the Medus Brown and Common Bushbrown. They are lovers of shady places and will seldom wander across open plains during the day. These butterflies’ fly’s very close to the ground and often settle on the ground. I have seen them settle on animal droppings, fallen fruits and damp patches on the ground. The host plant of this species includes Broadleaf Carpet Grass “Pothu Thana” Axonopus compressus, Centipede Grass “Rila path Thana” Eremochloa ophiuroides, Guinea Grass “Rata Thana, Gini Thana” Panicum maximum.
This is a fairly common species in Wilpattu and can be seen throughout the park.
