This is a species protected under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance as amended by Act No. 22 of 2009.
I have observed this species in all the dry zone forested areas including all the national parks. They are usually found in the bathrooms and particularly in washbasins.
In Wilpattu they found throughout the park. I have photographed them at Hunuwilagama, Eluwankulama and Radagama.
